The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has published its bulletin for May 2025.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) May Bulletin includes two field investigations, five correspondence investigations and three record-only investigations. Safety action has been taken as a result of our investigations.

The field investigations (G-CMJM and G-RGSK) have already been published online. The correspondence investigations and record-only investigations are published for the first time today.

The correspondence investigations comprise:

Commercial Air Transport

  • Boeing 777-236 (G-VIIT), Inadvertent thrust reduction during the takeoff roll, London Gatwick Airport, 28 June 2024

General Aviation

  • Beagle B121 Series 1 (G-AXOZ), approach and landing mishap, Bagby Airfield, North Yorkshire, 30 January 2025
  • CZAW Sportcruiser (G-CZAW), locker cover opened during flight, and subsequently the aircraft struck some trees short of Sherburn-in-Elmet Airfield, Yorkshire, 17 July 2024

Unmanned Aircraft Systems

  • UAS DJI Avata 2, Loss of control during flight, Prince George’s Playing Fields, Surrey, 30 November 2024
  • UAS DJI Ultralight Mini 2, Pilot distracted resulting in injury to uninvolved person, Victoria Embankment, Nottinghamshire, 18 August 2024
